MYNEWHAIR FORMS NEW RELATIONSHIP WITH LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER

mynewhair has proudly joined forces with the only international cancer support charity.

Both charities have come together thanks to their commitment to helping those affected by cancer look and feel better.

The national charity, mynewhair, was founded and inspired by professional stylist Trevor Sorbie MBE, is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016/17. mynewhair provides advice and support to anyone who has experienced medical hair loss, and has a national support network of independent salons and trained hair professionals who provide a wig-customisation service for their clients.

Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) provides practical support for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effect of cancer treatment. The charity offers free skincare and make-up workshops and masterclasses all over the UK for people undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. The two-hour sessions are led by trained beauty volunteers, who share tips and techniques to help with eyebrow and eyelash loss and changes to the skin.

The new relationship between the two charities will involve signposting to services and mutual promotion via websites and social media.

Trevor Sorbie MBE, founder of mynewhair, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have established this exciting new relationship with Look Good Feel Better. They are a charity who share our core values and like mynewhair want to help those affected by cancer to feel confident, proud and beautiful.

“There is a lot to look forward to as this relationship develops which will benefit both those who we support as well as those who deliver our services. We hope that by working together we can reach everyone across the UK who need our help, advice and support.”

Anyone who is part of mynewhair’s national support network of independent salons with skincare/make-up experience will be given the opportunity to be involved with the LGFB programme of workshops and masterclasses in the future.

Lisa Curtis, Head of Programme Services at Look Good Feel Better comments: “Feeling good about how you look has such an impact on self-esteem. Both Look Good Feel Better and mynewhair support people during some of the most difficult times in their lives.  Working together will enable us to reach thousands more and give them a much needed confidence boost.”

The charity also works closely with cancer health professionals and cancer hospitals to enhance the quality of the patient journey.

There are currently around 900 hairdressers and 800 salons in the Salons that Care network in all areas of the UK and the Republic of Ireland, and more than 100 Level 1, 2 and 3 training seminars are held every year.
