Macmillan Cancer Support partnership

Macmillan Cancer Support and mynewhair are launching an innovative new partnership to help reach and improve the lives of people affected by cancer. mynewhair is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals with medical hair loss. Founded by renowned hairdresser, Trevor Sorvbie M.B.E, it is a network of trained hair professionals who provide advice and wig cutting services to people who have lost their hair after cancer, and training for hairdressers who wish to offer the service in their salons. From 2 April 2014 the two organisations will work together to signpost people affected by cancer to each other's vital services. Anyone who comes to Macmillan seeking advice on hair and wig services will be provided with the names and contact details of their local mynewhair service. In return, mynewhair hairdressers will direct any clients in need of advice and support to Macmillan's helpline and advice services. The partnership launches with events in Macmillan's London and Shipley offices. Trevor Sorbie will show Macmmillan staff how to help and support people wo have lost their hair after cancer. Deborah Boothroyd, Cancer Information Support Line Team Leader of Macmillan Cancer Support, says: "We are delighted to announce this partnership with mynewhair. We know only too well how devastating it can be for people affected by cancer to lose their hair. This new partnership means we can now direct them to a local expert who will give them one to one advice and expertise to help rebuild their confidence and their lives after cancer". I have always had a great respect and admiration for the work that Macmillan doesn, and now far more ladies can benefit from the wig customisation service that mynewhair offers, will be made aware of it through the vast Macmillan support network".
