MYNEWHAIR GOES INTERNATIONAL

A pioneering national charity founded by professional stylist Trevor Sorbie MBE is expanding its network of responsibly trained hairdressers across the globe.

The renowned British celebrity hairdresser will lead the charity’s very first training seminar and workshop overseas later this month (May) in Dubai.

In association with Sister Beauty Lounge and L'Oréal Middle East, Trevor Sorbie and his training team will conduct a two-day wig cutting and styling workshop for professional hairdressers on Sunday 20thMay at the L’Oréal Professional Academy Dubai.

Trevor Sorbie will share his story and inspiration behind mynewhair as well as use his personal skills and insight to provide hairdressers with specialist expertise across all areas of advice, wig cutting and aftercare.

Trevor Sorbie MBE, founder of mynewhair, said: “In the 12 years since we set up mynewhair, our unique charity has achieved goals beyond our expectations. I am very proud of everything we have achieved so far in helping people who are suffering from medical hair loss.

“However, there is still much more to be done, and in recent years, it has been my dream to take mynewhair overseas. We are extremely grateful for the support of Sisters and L’Oreal Middle East for helping us to achieve our vision of expanding mynewhair internationally.

“I am thrilled to be leading the charity’s first international training seminar and workshop together with my training team, as well as having the opportunity to engage with hospitals in Dubai to discuss the importance of wig provision for those affected by alopecia and cancer. This is a big development for the charity and it is amazing that we can now have a positive impact and support even more people living with medical hair loss.”

During the workshop Trevor Sorbie will be joined by the charity’s trustees: professional hairdresser Darren Stuart from Tribeca Hair based in the North East of England; and health professionals Joanne Atkinson, Head of Subject Nursing Midwifery and Health at Northumbria University, and Ann Fox, Executive Director of Nursing, Quality and Safety at Sunderland NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and
Visiting Professor at the University of Sunderland, Department of Nursing and Health Sciences.

The charity, mynewhair, provides much needed advice and support to anyone who has experienced medical hair loss and access to a network of responsibly trained hairdressers.

Currently there are approximately 960 hairdressers and 835 independent salons, across the UK and Ireland, members of the charity’s national network of ‘salons that care’ who provide a responsible and compassionate wig-customisation service for their clients.
